El Paso Police Department history and photographs

Rachel, webweaver
I've added this source for the history of the El Paso Police Department (http://www.elpasotexas.gov/police/history1.asp) to pages that involve crime, the "wild west", the Salt War, etc.  This website states:: "This page is intended to provide an overview of history of the El Paso Police Department and how its history relates to and intertwines with more popular "old-west" history.  It also outlines how the Department has progressed and grown over the years."  They also have a collection of historic photographs here: http://www.elpasotexas.gov/police/history_groups.asp  which I've added to our research guide collection of photo sites.

Here's to your research, Rachel

If you want information on Cleofas Calleros the historian, why don't you ask his surviving nephew, Jesus B. Ochoa Jr. I believe he is in the local phone book and he can share information that isn't currently available, from a unique perspective. I'm sure that he can be contacted on the web as well, just google him.

The sources you have attached are very limited and really provide a narrow historical pespective of the police department. My website http://rustygunbarrel.ning.com has more than 1000 photographs from 1880 - 2000 and numerous stories of persons, places and events regarding the PD history.
